Would you pick Friday Night Lights over any-day actual Football? Or do you love reading about sports just as much as you love playing them? Here are some PLL books you may want on your team this Thanksgiving:
FROSH: First Blush
FROSH: First Blush takes place during the week of the homecoming game at Hillson University. It has 4 POV characters, but one of those is Grant, the star-quarterback of the team—think Smash Williams from Friday Night Lights. But Grant’s life—or his game—are not as perfect as everyone thinks, and when he meets Ellie, a journalist snooping for a scandal…well, let’s just say he better be careful before he drops one right into her hands.
BEING SLOANE JACOBS
BEING SLOANE JACOBS is like the Parent Trap, but with sports: two girls, Sloane Emily and Sloane Devon, both play ice sports. (One is a figure-skater, the other kicks butt at ice hockey. #goals, right?) When they meet at camp and out of frustration with their lives decide to switch places, disaster, hijinks, and of course, romance ensues.
This NA thriller is perfect if you’re over sitting in the family room watching everyone yell at the TV. You’re looking for a poignant, in-depth and kind of scary read. Nico is a runner in recovery from an eating disorder, and when she gets assaulted at her college—and believes she’s being stalked by her assailant—things get really intense. This book talks about mental illness, campus safety, and other really important issues, so if you want to educate yourself, and your family, check BEAUTIFUL GIRL out.
LOVE AND OTHER ALIEN EXPERIENCES
We end this list on a feel-good note with LOVE AND OTHER ALIEN EXPERIENCES. Mal is suffering from agoraphobia ever since her dad left, but when she realizes the cash prize for winning Homecoming Queen is just enough money that she could go after him and find out what went wrong, Mal decides to enter. Which means getting Brad, the football star at her high school (think Jason Street!) to ask her out. She starts to like him, but will her anxiety get in the way?
