The Wednesday Hump

I personally got off to a slow start today due to my aching EVERYWHERE when I got up this morning. This is how you guys know I love you. But I did arrive in time to snag some more great galleys and ARCs that we can’t wait to share with you!

I’m heading down now to check out the BlogWorld and New Media Expo floor to see about the blogging revolution and what I’m missing. Or not missing. Basically I’m getting pumped for the Book Bloggers Convention on Friday! I met lots of other awesome book bloggers waiting in line for the release of galleys this afternoon like Thea of The Book Smugglers who I bonded with over my being terrible at Scrabble. Just because I have a large vocabulary does not make me good at strategy or math. Is this just me?

Who else will be going to the Book Bloggers Convention Friday? I’ll see you there!

BEA Loot: the story of my aching shoulders

Take a look at all the free books I got today! Unfortunately I won’t get to keep most of them because they are for you guys to win! So I guess that’s only unfortunate for me, not you. Hopefully tomorrow I can snag some books for selfish reasons. Though I’m not sure my shoulders can take it…

Heading home to Brooklyn to drop off my stash!

See you tomorrow, Jacob K. Javits Center!

Oh, and, by the way, they’re giving away free beer at Hachette. Just saying.

BEA! BEA!

It’s here! After weeks of waiting we have finally arrived at BEA! I will be here all week blogging and tweeting at (and with) you from my armed-to-the-teeth mobile work bag. I’m equipped with iPad, laptop, phone, assorted chargers and a mobile hotspot because I refuse to pay for Javits wi-fi. I’m ready for any Internet emergency!

For a conference focusing on books, it sure requires a lot of technology! I’m particularly interested in all the digital pavilions and the BlogWorld exhibit. Though I’m also looking forward to seeing all the new books coming out and meeting some of my favorite authors. I already met Sarah Dessen today who was outside helping promote hr new book with free whoopee pies. She Wasserstein delightful and the whoopee pies were delicious (and also my breakfast?).

Who else is here today? I’d love to meet up with any of you if you have the time or inclination. Let me know! If nothing else, I might have the charger you need!

You can comment here (or on any post I make throughout the week) or tweet at me at @paperlanternlit or at me personally at @nyxnimby. And don’t forget to be following @OliverBooks to see what our very own (she is ours and we are hers) Lauren Oliver is up to this week!

Have a great show everyone and I’ll be back at you soon!

(CAN YOU TELL I’M EXCITED?!)

BEA IN THREE WEEKS!!!!!!!

BEA is happening in just THREE WEEKS and I couldn’t be more excited about it if I actually lived in NYC. Which I do.

Actually, we at Paper Lantern Lit are all excited about BEA, but for me this is my first year attending so I’m SUPER pumped! I had the chance to go last year as a student, but I ended up having to work and missed it. THIS year I took all my convention weeks for the summer off far in advance and will be attending Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on the show floor and Friday as a part of the Book Blogger Convention, to help me be better at sharing awesomeness with you.

As part of my pre-gaming for BEA (I can’t wait any longer!) I’ve been checking out this list of high profile children’s and YA books that will be getting the BEA star treatment. Personally I’m excited for Marcel the Shell with Shoes On: Things About Me based on the video, which is 100% adorable.

I’m also stoked for a peek at Goliath, book three of Scott Westerfeld’s steampunk trilogy. I’ve already devoured Leviathan, and Behemoth. Then again, I’m a steampunk cosplayer so I guess I’m a little biased.

Finally, not to be totally promotional, but I really want a better peek at Lauren Oliver’s Liesl & Po. Yes, I know I work with her, but this only makes it worse because I’ve seen some small glimpses of the work in progress and I’m impatient! (Hint, Lauren!)

What books are you looking to check out at BEA this year? Who else is anywhere near as excited as I am?!
